Permavent are proud to have been involved in the award-winning regeneration and restoration project Lucent W1.

The project is situated in Piccadilly, the heart of London’s thriving West End, behind the largest single digital screen in Europe: Piccadilly Lights.

The space behind The Lights had been empty since the 1950s, but the 13 different buildings in an almost complete city block have now been restored. Both Skytech Pro XL A2-s1,d0 fire rated reflective membrane and Permavent Easy Slate, award winning low-pitch roofing solution, were specified on this magnificent project.

Permavent were approached by the Lucent W1 design team to assist with a challenging pitched roof specification. Skytech Pro XL was selected and installed due to its A2-s1,d0 fire rated performance, vapour-permeability to meet British Standard requirements, and impressive UV stability to cope with an extensive roofing programme.
Permavent Easy Slate was also installed on complex low pitch elevations with a cutting edge, geometric roof design and distinct traditional features. Easy Slate was specified in conjunction with high quality dark blue-grey Welsh Slate, in order to preserve the aesthetics of the historic London buildings and facades.
By working closely with AccuRoof’s design teams and Wates Group Permavent could ensure both products were installed as per our recommendations and in line with the client’s expectations. The full refurbishment of Lucent W1 is now complete and has recently won ‘best project’ at the NFRC UK Roofing Awards 2024, in the ‘Multi-Discipline Project>250k’ category.
