How Permavent was installed

Safeshield XT Reflect membrane was fitted on the exterior face of the insulation in the cavity prior to the new exterior cladding being installed in accordance with best practice and guidance of BS 5250:2021 Management of Moisture in Buildings.

Access to the buildings exterior for the installation of Safeshield XT Reflect was provided via scaffolding. The lightweight design, compact packaging and high tensile yet flexible membrane made the membrane effortless to manoeurvre, install and position, even at height. Safeshield XT Reflect’s easy installation enabled the contractor to use a staple fix in a free hanging application onto the substrate.

Safeshield XT Reflect has an industry leading 9 month UV stability exposure rate and a W1 water resistance exposure standard, which provided protection waiting for the exterior cladding to be fixed in place.

Safeshield membrane is a cutting-edge construction solution designed to be applied over or behind external wall insulation. The primary function is to shield walls from harsh weather elements like wind and rain while preventing water vapour accumulation, which can lead to structural deterioration over time. Additionally, during the construction phase, it provides UV resistance up to 9 months, further safeguarding the building.

Despite its thin and lightweight design, the membrane remains extremely durable. Its air and vapour permeability ensures the external walls remain breathable while successfully preventing water ingress.
