What is The Permavent Easy Roof System?

The Permavent Easy Roof system is an innovative roofing system that enables natural slate to be installed at a pitch as low as 12 degrees, fibre cement slate at 10 degrees and plain tile roofs to be installed at a pitch as low as 17.5 degrees. The Permavent Easy Roof system is a patented and unique system, which has been vigorously tested and certified by the BRE and is approved by the NHBC.

How does it work?

The Easy Roof system is a quick, easy and proven solution for effectively managing and draining away any water ingress on pitched roofs as low as 10 degrees. The Easy Roof system is made from virgin plastic.

The principal behind Permavent’s Easy Roof system is straight forward: create an effective channel to prevent any buildup of water ingress when installing a roof at a low pitch. Where water can travel in all directions on contact with a roof, this can cause problems on shallow pitched roofs, where water can’t easily run off the roof edge as it would on a more conventional, deeper pitch. This buildup of water can cause a number of structural issues to the integrity of a roof over time, most notably the batten which can suffer from rot, decay and lead to the subsequent roof failure.

Permavent’s Easy Roof System is installed on top of the battens and offers the timber an additional layer of protection, where water is unable to cause rot or damage to the wood. Installation of an Easy Roof system is straightforward. The Plain Easy or Easy Slate system, depending on the desired finish of the roof, fits in between the roof batten and the tile/slate, and are affixed together by appropriate fixing method (nail, hook or other).

Easy roof can be used unrestricted across the UK. It is a perfect solution in both domestic and commercial applications. It has been extensively used in heritage buildings, where ridge height has been restricted due to planning considerations. the protection of roofing materials and aesthetics are paramount to the project.

What do the British Standards BS 5534 2014+ A2 2018 state?

Permavent Easy Roof follows guidance from BS 5534:2014 + A2:2018, The Code of Practice for Slating and Tiling, for all applications. Consequently, traditional applications; headlaps, fixings and aesthetics are all protected when using the Easy Roof system, with the added benefit of installing at much lower pitches, as dictated by BS 5534.
