Five Permavent Projects Shortlisted for the Pitched Roofing Awards 2026

Permavent is proud to announce that five projects featuring our roofing systems have been shortlisted for the Pitched Roofing Awards 2026.

From complex heritage restorations and architect-led homes to large-scale commercial refurbishments and sustainability-led community projects, each shortlisted project demonstrates how the right roofing solution can overcome technical challenges while delivering long-term performance.  

We’re proud to have supported these projects and delighted to celebrate the roofing contractors, project teams and partners whose expertise has earned this well-deserved recognition.  

Sustainable Project of the Year  

Protecting The Ark, Shrewsbury  

Roofrite (Shropshire) Ltd. with Permavent  

Roofrite (Shropshire) Ltd successfully delivered a conservation-led reroof of this vital community facility, supporting people experiencing homelessness and vulnerability, while ensuring The Ark remained fully operational, allowing essential services for vulnerable people to continue uninterrupted throughout the project.   

By reclaiming existing Welsh slate, upgrading insulation and specifying Permavent APEX, the team created a breathable, weatherproof roofing system that eliminated the need for visible roof ventilation, improving energy efficiency while preserving the building’s historic character.

Best Use of Slate for a Commercial Project  

The National Library of Wales  

LEB Construction with Permavent  

LEB Construction completed the first full reroof of the National Library of Wales in almost a century, carefully protecting more than 6.5 million books, manuscripts and nationally important archives throughout the works. Installed beneath over 2,000m² of Welsh slatePermavent APEX provided outstanding moisture management and secondary weather protection while allowing the historic roof to breathe naturally without altering its appearance. The reroof also supported the Library’s wider decarbonisation programme, including a new 3,500m² solar PV installation

GAP Roofing Services transformed what began as a straightforward reroof into a highly complex engineering project, overcoming hidden structural defects, challenging roof geometry and failed ventilation systems without compromising quality or programme.   

Originally planned as a repair project, the scheme quickly evolved into a full reroof after years of hidden deterioration were uncovered.

Working closely with the architect, Redwing Roofing overcame the challenge of installing traditional handmade clay plain tiles on roof pitches as low as 28°, preserving the original architectural vision without compromise. By specifying Permavent’s patented Plain Easy low-pitch roofing system, the team achieved full compliance with BS 5534, enabling a roof that combines timeless craftsmanship allowing traditional craftsmanship to meet modern roofing performance without compromise.
