Colleges across the UK have been hosting the largest and longest-running construction skills competition, with a record number of over 1,000 students set to compete in the SkillBuild 2024 Regional Qualifiers this year.
Over the series of 19 qualifying sessions, there are a total of 7 Roof Slating and Tiling trade competitions, allowing competitors to show their technical abilities and skills. Permavent are very proud to be supporting SkillBuild, not only by supplying the competitors with roofing membrane to complete their tasks, but also supporting the competitors with advice from our leading expert in the industry and Technical Manager of Permavent, Graham Copson.
SkillBuild is delivered by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and showcases some of the construction industry’s brightest talent, as highly skilled trainees and apprentices go head-to-head to be crowned winner of their chosen trade.
The regional qualifiers are being run across the UK from 23rd April through to 4th July. They bring together apprentices and learners to compete across 10 differing categories. These one-day events bring together learners who complete a set task relevant to their trade.
Following on from the Regional Qualifiers, the top eight scoring competitors from each trade category will be invited to take part in the UK National Final in November.
With an extra 225,000 workers required to meet UK construction demand by 2027, SkillBuild is a fantastic opportunity to promote the diverse range of roles available and showcase the industry to new audiences.
Permavent will continue to offer their support throughout the whole of the competition in championing each and every competitor and help assist them professionally. Good luck to all to all the entrants in future events!
