Firstly, the slates were installed and tested for their usual performance. We then used the same slate with the easy slate in the same position to compare the performance of the roof.
The tested test roof was then positioned in front of the BRE wind and rain machine and subjected to a 50 year storm test using the criteria of severe exposure.
Suction and pressure were applied beneath the test rig in order to replicate the full force of a storm. Any leakage was carefully recorded and the comparison was made.
The chart shows the actual results of the tests on manmade slates. A roof is considered to pass if 38g/m2/5mm of leakage is recorded at 40 Pascals of pressure. The chart reveals that manmade slates performed as expected without Easy Slate. Using Easy Slate manmade slates showed no leaks at all even at 12.5 deg.

Conclusion:
The Permavent Easy Slate system significantly improves the resistance of both natural and fibre cement slates to wind driven rain.
